Biography
Reda Mourah is a talented film composer, as well as an accomplished composer for theatre and diverse artistes; known for his unique approach to music that combines his cultural experiences and ethnological understanding. He was born on February 14, 1981, in Algiers, and from an early age, he showed a passion for music.
Reda started his musical journey by learning classical melodies from renowned composers such as Johann Sebastian Bach and Mozart. His talent was quickly recognized, and he won the prize for the youngest performer in a national competition when he was just seven years old. He then continued his musical education by taking piano lessons from Madame Hamadi, who introduced him to Russian classical methods. Later, he took classes with Mrs. Soraya Meziane, where he learned to interpret the works of Beethoven, Chopin, and Mozart. These classical influences laid the foundation for his future musical compositions, which would go on to blend different cultural influences and genres.
In 1994, Reda Mourah became interested in American music, particularly the sounds of Blues and Jazz. He taught himself to play these styles and formed a jazz trio in 2001, where they played a wide range of American jazz classics, Latin Jazz, and AfroCuban titles. This experience gave him a deep understanding of different musical styles, which he would later incorporate into his compositions.

In 2012, he collaborated with Chakib Bouzidi, the Algerian master of the gumbri, on the album “Ifrikya Spirit”, which was performed by the band of the same name in many countries during 10 years, including a notable performance in the USA. Reda Mourah’s passion for music led him to travel extensively, seeking to enrich his musical knowledge and understanding of different cultures. During his travels, he studied the history of instruments, techniques, and composition of each region he visited, allowing him to create music that was a reflection of his broad understanding of music.
His work has been featured in several productions, including the musical composition of the trailer of “Heliopolis”, then the entire score of the third season of the highly successful series “Achour El Acher” directed by Djaffar Gacem. He has also worked on the musical component of several films, including the latest full-length film “La berceuse rouge” directed by the renowned Algerian director Belkacem Hadjadj.
Additionally, Reda Mourah has recently showcased his talent as a guest composer and Mixing Sound Engineer on the series Mayna, which was released in March 2024. He also served as the Film Score composer on Dar Lefchouche Saison 2, collaborating closely with Director Djaffar Gacem to create a compelling musical backdrop for the series.
Reda Mourah is a composer who has demonstrated his versatility in various music fields, including choreography, theater, and music albums. He has collaborated with Ahmed Khemis in the choreography “Erekch” as a composer and also interpreted on stage with the dancers. Additionally, he has composed music outside the theater or cinematographic field, as seen in the album “Elemental Alchemy”.
